Christmas 2023 | End of Year Summary

It’s feeling very Christmassy indeed here at Tomlinson’s - we’ve decked the tree, written our cards, and have just about recovered from our annual Christmas do!

2023 has been an exceptionally busy year for Tomlinson and, in some ways, a transformative one. This spring, our brass CNC department took delivery of two further Datron M8Cube high-speed milling machines which, along with their sister machines, have run non-stop, around-the-clock ever since. Our decision to focus our investment into the development and expansion of our brass die production area in preference to the etching of copper, has proven to be a very sound one.

Also early on in the year, and with LabelExpo 2023 in mind, Tomlinson’s was proud to be part of an important collaborative project; the development of a truly stunning range of luxury labels, ‘Mythos’. Our aim was to incorporate and showcase the extensive array of impressive foiled and embossed effects achievable, and to display them to their fullest advantage. The result is a truly outstanding collection of unique, high-end labels that display the full capabilities of our expert foiling and embossing products. We can’t wait to unveil the completed Mythos brochure in the spring of 2024 as we know you’ll feel just as excited about it as we do!

At LabelExpo 2023 in September, the Mythos concept was very well-received and we spent four fantastic days in Brussels connecting with many familiar industry colleagues and new contacts alike. Tomlinson’s partnership with AB Graphic International and API Foils at the event was a resounding success, and the time spent working alongside each’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic team was both pleasurable and rewarding in equal measure. Teaming-up with like-minded people wherever we are is something we love to do and is an important part of who we are as a company.

We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming a new team member into the ‘Tomlinson family’ - Joe has joined our Finishing team and is proving to be a great asset. Similarly, Jyoti has returned from maternity leave this year and we’re delighted to have her back in our vibrant Sales department once again.

In addition, Tomlinson’s turned six in July (in EO terms, that is!). Yes, 2023 saw us celebrate our sixth year as an Employee Owned company and we were very fortunate to have unexpectedly clement weather for our celebratory EO barbecue! Although, in fact, Tomlinson’s actually turned ninety-six this year. It’s no wonder we’re all looking forward to a few days off this Christmas!

Looking ahead to 2024, yet more investment is on the cards - this time with the focus on our busy magnesium etching area. Also, a brand new Tomlinson’s Foil Texture Brochure is currently at the design stage which will go to print in the early part of the New Year. There’s lots to look forward to.

Most importantly of all, we’d like to say a sincere and resounding ‘thank you’ to all our fantastic customers - we’ve loved working with you in 2023. Equally, we’ve loved doing what we do best - manufacturing quality foiling and embossing dies to embellish your unique and innovative print projects of all kinds - and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
