At Tomlinson, we believe that sharing our knowledge and experience is an important part of supporting designers and customers. The more understanding there is around foil blocking and embossing techniques, the more confidently these finishes can be specified and applied to creative projects.
Project Mythos
A great example of this approach has been Project Mythos, which was launched at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona.
The project was created to showcase the possibilities of combining creative design with specialist die making, while also explaining the processes behind each bespoke label. Rather than simply showing the finished results, we wanted to give designers a better understanding of how each effect was achieved and the technical considerations involved during manufacture.
The response from designers and customers has been extremely positive. Many appreciated the information shared within the project, as it helped build confidence when considering foil, embossing and other premium finishing techniques for their own work.

The New Tomlinson Brochure
Our new Tomlinson brochure is now in its final stages of development, and we are excited to share it with the industry.
The brochure has been designed as an educational resource for designers, brands and print professionals. It explores a wide range of finishing techniques, including foiling, combination dies, and various embossing variants, helping understand the different processes available and how they can be applied to creative projects.
A significant amount of time has gone into researching what designers and customers want from a technical guide. Our aim is to provide practical inspiration alongside valuable knowledge, helping designers make informed decisions when considering premium finishing techniques.
We believe the industry benefits from greater education around foil and embossing, giving designers the confidence to explore these finishes and understand the possibilities they can bring to packaging and label design. We are proud to be taking a leading role in supporting and inspiring the next generation of creative packaging projects by sharing our experience and technical expertise.

Looking Ahead
Our commitment to developing new ideas and supporting the industry continues. We are already working on several exciting projects that we will reveal in the coming months. While we cannot share all the details just yet, we can confirm that our next creative focus will be on cartons, ensuring the packaging sector benefits from the same level of creativity, technical expertise and knowledge-sharing that has made our label projects so successful.
